Yeah!
It's the truth.
We ain't debating this fact, it's so glaring how almost everyone is glued to their phones. And you're telling me our lives ain't ran by social media.
I love tech stuffs, and the beautiful things that comes with it. However, too many people are missing the real gist behind social media. They are too excited that they have forgotten or rather not interested in finding out ways Facebook and others social media can help better them.
Most popular social media handles are
TikTok
Quora
The list is numerous.
How social media controls your life
Has there been any day that passes by that you didn't login into your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok accounts?
The question sounds awkward, isn't? I know it does, but let's face it. Approximately 99 percent of social media users log in to their account daily.
If socal media can reduce your productivity at home, work or business, then it controls your life.
Why do people log in to their account on daily basis?
To post pictures
A lot of folks (guess everyone does this) want their friends to know exactly what's up with their lives - what they are eating, the clothes they are putting on and the new cars they are riding.
These things are interesting and beautiful.
Oh yes, they're.
I'm not saying you shouldn't let friends know these things especially when your Prince Charming proposes or takes you to places you never imagined you will be to. All of these are good news. And I have strong affinity for good news.
What I detest is turning your account red just to show off on Facebook or Instagram while some worms in your stomach will be cursing you at midnight because you haven't fed well. Because you spent your last on expensive clothes.
Quite pathetic.
To check how many likes a particular post has received
Yes!
I do this regularly. What about you?
Guess you affirm to this.
How many like a post gets and doesn't get usually make most of us to be glued on Facebook and other social handles more than we ought to do.
Let's learn to make post and walk away without giving a heck of what people thinks about it, provided whatever it's you posted, resonates well with your moral values.
If one can learn this, then the time spent on social media can be shortened.
To chat
Chatting is really time consuming, have you noticed that?
Social media has succeeded in bringing and uniting long lost friends together. More so, it has been a good means of hooking up lovers - I have seen couples that met there.
Hence, minutes and hours are spent on chatting, in a bit to know the newly found friend better.
This is a good one if only it leads to good and advantageous relationships, not toxic ones. Most people had confessed they found their missing ribs on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and so on.
Next time you hunch over your phone or system to chat ask yourself these questions: is this chat adding value to my life or the life of the other person? Will this chat push my business to the next level? Will this chat drain some of my moral values?
If the answers are okay by you, then tighten your seat and give it your best shot.
To watch videos
The video feature added to most social media handles especially Facebook is wonderful. There's nothing wrong with logging on just to watch videos.
I do this if am so stressed. I watch videos to ease stress. Some times as part of giving myself a treat for some jobs well done.
Do you binge on social media videos? If yes, reduce the time you spent on viewing these videos.
Another reason why people log into their account is to get busy - to reduce boredom
Are you always bored - less busy? If yes, you might as well be one of those that toggle between different social media handles throughout the day.
Get busy. They are a thousand and one useful things that will keep you busy and productive. Find it and get engaged. Or ask me later.
If your own reasons for frequenting Facebook and other social media are not here, kindly add it on the comment section.
Take home
- Stop frequenting social media if you ain't doing any meaningful things there
- Get busy
- Chat but take part in uplifting chats
- Don't give a heck of what people think about your post once it resonates with your moral values.
